What's your story

If you had to write one sentence about what got you to where you are today, what would it say?

Would it be about the person who motivated you—who pushed you toward your goals? Or the event that launched you on your current day path?

We all have our stories. Some are inspirational and optimistic, but others contain regret. Regardless of what our own personal stories might be, we hold in our hands the pen that could alter the paths of others. Right now, the stories of countless children are being written. Given the current figures, 46% of our youths’ stories will not include college. But that can change. Here at RSH, our goal is to rewrite the statistics.Be it as the inspirational mentor or through teaching the skill sets that open new doors, we seek to provide the support and guidance that will help our youth grow into successful, responsible adults.

So I ask you, what’s your story? Better yet, what kind of story would you like to write?

Every week, I will blog about one person’s story. This person could be a celebrity or someone I know personally. The blog could be about anyone. If you would like to share your story, please comment or contact me directly. If not, I hope you’ll return next week.

My father taught me golf

Regardless of what his off the field news might concern, one must admit that Tiger Woods is paramount to the world of golf. With 14 major golf championships and 71 PGA Tour events to his name, it is easy to see why Woods would be the highest paid athlete in the world. One cannot think of golf without the name Tiger Woods coming to mind. But where would he be today had it not been for his father?

Before Tiger Woods was even two years of age, Earl Woods taught his son the game of golf. By the time Woods turned six, he had already been featured in Golf Digest and as a teenager, Woods was already setting out to beat the records of golf legend Jack Nicklaus. Some might criticize Earl Woods for putting so much pressure on his son at such a young age, but it has no doubt helped Woods become the person he is today.

Because his father taught him golf, Woods was able to prosper into a talented, world famous athlete with millions to his name. Now, he is provide others with an opportunity for success. In establishing the Tiger Woods Foundation in 1996, Woods seeks to improve the health, education, and welfare of America's children.
