"Love is Nothing in Tennis, but in Life it's Everything"

Congrats Aly Ba for receiving the Lavner's Kids Scholarship for the summer of 2012!

For Scholarship information or to attend Lavner's camps and programs, please sign-up at

Thank you Wells Fargo - Bala Cynwyd for the $1,000 grant. We look forward to helping out some very fortunate kids this next summer so that they have the opportunity to attend Lavner's camps.

Wow, we have a little more than a week until the big day… Due to popular demand, our Benefit dinner is now scheduled for Friday, August 26, 2011. Our tennis tournament will take place the following day from 9-5. Those of you who are thinking about participating, make sure to RSVP at

As for everyone else who might be too far away to make the trek, there is a way for you to get involved as well. We are happy to reveal our online auction. By visiting, you can view the items that will be available at the silent auction and bid on them now. Take a minute to go through the auction items. We have gift certificates, gym and spa memberships, and even weeklong getaways!

Another week has gone by and we draw closer to the Real Estate Tennis Open Benefit. This week, we went around Philadelphia looking for sponsors and donations. We already have an Auction Presenting Sponsor. A couple of local companies have donated gift certificates and gift baskets to our silent auction, and more have shown interest in donating as well. Right now, we would like to get more people to sign up for the tournament. Both the tournament and dinner are open to everyone, so if any of your friends are interested, please tell them to sign up through the website:

We have also been working with social media including Facebook and Twitter. As of now, we have close to 200 likes on Facebook and over 100 followers on Twitter. We hope to continue expanding through both of these mediums and would love your support through additional ‘likes’ and ‘follows.’

At this time, we are happy to announce that Mr. Robert P. Levy has joined our organization as a member of the advisory board. Mr. Levy has been an active member of the sports scene throughout his life. Although he has many successful business ventures to his name, it is in athletics that his passion truly lies. The proud owner of Robert P. Levy Stables, Mr. Levy has raced horses that won the Belmont Stakes, Eclipse Award, American Outstanding Sprint Horse, and more. His influence has also garnered attention for other sports in the area. Mr. Levy founded the Little Quakers football team in 1953 and was indispensible in bringing major athletic events, such as the 1999 U.S. Figure Skating Championship and the 2002 NBA All Star Game, to Philadelphia.

In addition to the countless contributions Mr. Levy has bestowed upon the Philadelphia community, he has also been an avid supporter of the University of Pennsylvania tennis team. To honor his generosity, the University of Pennsylvania has even named its indoor tennis facility Levy Pavilion. It is little wonder that part of RSH’s roots, too, lie with him. RSH President and member of the 2002 Women’s Tennis Ivy League Championship team Shelah Chao cites Mr. Levy as a key motivational figure, saying "Mr. Levy dedicated much of his time and energy to being our Volunteer Assistant Coach. His commitment to the team and to the sports community has helped inspire us to give back to the community and to even start this non-profit.” Mr. Levy is more than just a businessman and a philanthropist. He is a mentor, a friend to Philadelphia. Although his list of accomplishments runs for pages, it is his influence and inspiration that will ripple through generations.

When most people think of the summer, they think of soaking in the sun at the beach. However, we here at Racquet Serving Hope have been hard at work. We have been adding new members, updating our sites, and developing a new fundraiser. So, without further ado, we’d like to introduce the latest additions to our organization: Ronnie Kewalramani , Angela Qian, and Tangbo Chao. Please join us in welcoming these three new interns to our team. We expect to see great things from them.

We’d like to take this time to thank you for your support you have given us this year. Please continue to promote us by checking out our new website, liking us on Facebook, and following us on Twitter (@RSHPhilly). Encourage your friends to follow us as well.

Finally, we’re excited to announce that Racquet Serving Hope will be organizing a tennis tournament for Monday, August 29.The 2011 RSH Real Estate Tennis Open Benefitwill take place at Penn Park. This will be the launching pad that sends us off on not only dreaming big, believing big, thinking big, but also doing big. With a successful fundraiser, we would be able to provide more tennis equipment for our youth. Please continue to help us by promoting us among your colleagues or by donating to our auction baskets. Any form of contribution, be it time, support, or donations, would be invaluable to us.

Someone once said that "Love is nothing in tennis, but in life it's everything.” Join us in showing our love to our youth.
